Cosmetic smile makeover simulations: Transforming a smile with just two dental crowns.

Sometimes it doesn't take all that much dentistry to make a big change in a person's smile.

Case history:: This woman submitted some background information with her picture that stated that she had already consulted with two "cosmetic dentists." Unfortunately, she had decided that at this time her finances dictated that a smile makeover must wait. We took this as a challenge to see how much of a transformation we could make with the least amount of dentistry.

About our approach to this cosmetic dentistry makeover simulation.

Placement of two dental crowns and two white fillings.: Our simulation shows how placing just two dental crowns on this person's center two teeth and then small white fillings (dental bonding) on the two teeth to their sides could make a very nice change with this smile. By making the center two teeth just slightly wider and shorter, all of the upper teeth take on a more uniform and harmonious look. Any dentist, general or "cosmetic," should be able to duplicate the result shown in our simulation.
This case could probably be completed even more inexpensively.: It certainly might be possible that the same result that we have simulated above could be achieved just by placing dental bonding. Clearly dental crowns would provide a stronger, probably more aesthetic, and longer lasting result. But until that point in time when this person's finances were less of a concern, doing so might provide a short-term solution.
